A Wedding Blessing - Lindsay & Denzil

A vision in white lace and satin,
Serenely she walked up the aisle,
That reminiscent smile of her mother’s,
Brought tears to many an eye.

The charming young groom at the altar,
Looked tenderly down at his bride,
Their eyes locked together a moment,
As she took her place by his side.

The sacred words chosen from Scripture,
Each hymn that was sung made it clear,
Their covenant vows to each other,
Would seal them in Christ evermore.

We prayed that this newlywed couple,
Made one now as husband and wife,
Be granted the gifts of patience and love,
And laughter midst challenge or strife.

May they always know joy without ceasing
May their troubles be fleeting and few
May the Lord bless and keep them forever
In His love ever faithful and true.

THY WILL BE DONE

 Here I am Beloved,
I come to do Your will,
I have wrestled long but now,
My pliant heart is still.

You've collected all my tears,
You heard each trembling sigh,
You rent my soul asunder,
Acquiescent now I lie.

The fight within has taken wings,
Submissively I cede,
Before Your will I am prostrate,
At last O Lord, I yield.

YOUR WILL IS MY DELIGHT

Echoing the psalmist,
I have often prayed this prayer,
“Here I am O Lord!
To do your will is my delight.
Send me! I will go
Wherever You command.”

Yet, when the moment,
Finally arrived to prove,
My prayer naught but hollow words,
I cried aloud and said,
“Not this I beg you Lord.
I do not want to go.”

But go I must. His will is clear,
Although it rends my soul,
To part with those who form,
The warp and weft, the threads that run
Across the fabric of my life.
For duty calls.

Harsh mistress she won't prove to be,
If sweetened with the leaven,
Of the love of Christ Himself,
And the prayer I long  have prayed,
Will finally ring true,

“Here I am O Lord!
To do your will is my delight.”

IN THE SHADOW OF LOVE

Walk in my shadow,
Find ‘neath its shade,
Peace and protection,
Till sun and moon fail.

I’ll be your shelter,
In the eye of the storm,
Under my wings,
You are safe from all harm.

Fear shall not stalk you,
Nor pestilence strike,
No arrow in daylight,
Nor terror by night.

I promise to gather,
Each tear from your eye,
In grief and in sorrow,
I’ll stay by your side.

Angels will guard you,
They’re charged to dispense,
Showers of blessing,
And favors immense.

And after the course,
Of your life here has run,
I’ll give you a mansion,
In the realm of My Son.
