CATCHING FIRE

I will ask the Father
and he will give you another Advocate
to be with you always. Jn 14:16

I asked of my Beloved,

To send from heaven above,

His All-Consuming Spirit,

Inflaming me with Love.

A Blazing Light whose burnish,

Would neither cool nor dim,

To brand His Seal upon my soul,

Claiming me for Him.

Would my loving, gracious Lord,

Ignite at my request,

The Fire of His Spirit

In me, at my behest?

He answers every prayer 

and often, just as we desire,

His flaming arrow torched my soul,

His not mine the Fire.

YOUR SPIRIT OF LOVE

Send Your Spirit on me Lord,

As soft as morning dew,

As gentle as a summer rain,

Refresh, revive, renew.

When my human spirit ,

Is too weak He’ll pray and plead, 

With moans and groans too deep for words,

He’ll sigh and intercede.

Your Holy Spirit guarantees,

To grant the grace I need,

To stay in fellowship with You,

As I live out the Creed.

There is no greater gift than this,
That God abides in me,

And through Your Holy Spirit 

Loves me ineffably.

Come Holy Spirit possess my soul,
Come Holy Spirit I yield to You,
Come Holy Spirit Come.

Come Holy Spirit Comforter and Guide
Come Holy Spirit in me abide,
Come Holy Spirit stay e’er by side.
Come Holy Spirit, Come.

Come Holy Spirit best of all friends
Come Holy Spirit on You I depend
Come Holy Spirit lead me till the end.
