CRY OF THE HEART

 CRY OF THE HEART

My personal experience after losing my firstborn baby girl, Keisha, at 14 months.

* He heals the brokenhearted
and binds up their wounds. Ps 147:3

The prayer of desolation
Rises from the heart
When agonizing sorrow
Rends the soul apart.

A prayer of wretched anguish
That ceaselessly implores
The God of all compassion
To comfort and console.

This plaintive prayer beseeches
God to grant relief -
Dispel the dreary sadness
The all-pervasive grief.

And just when all seems hopeless
God himself descends
Gently touching every wound
The broken heart He mends.

YOUR WILL IS MY DELIGHT

Echoing the psalmist,
I have often prayed this prayer,
“Here I am O Lord!
To do your will is my delight.
Send me! I will go
Wherever You command.”

Yet, when the moment,
Finally arrived to prove,
My prayer naught but hollow words,
I cried aloud and said,
“Not this I beg you Lord.
I do not want to go.”

But go I must. His will is clear,
Although it rends my soul,
To part with those who form,
The warp and weft, the threads that run
Across the fabric of my life.
For duty calls.

Harsh mistress she won't prove to be,
If sweetened with the leaven,
Of the love of Christ Himself,
And the prayer I long  have prayed,
Will finally ring true,

“Here I am O Lord!
To do your will is my delight.”

HIS LITTLE LAMP OF CLAY

Created by the Potter,
This little lamp of clay,
Though worn and chipped in places,
Is put to use each day.

With oil He fills me daily,
He sets the wick alight,
I falter first and flicker,
Then steadily burn bright.

The glow I know is feeble,
But constant is its stream,
With light sufficient just to take,
A step in its soft beam.

Light enough for just one step,
With perfect confidence,
To fill the jar and trim the lamp,
I trust His Providence.

The time will come when oil and wick,
Will finally be spent,
My little light will die on earth,
To reignite in heaven.

WILL YOU TRUST ME?

Will you trust Me,
When life seems an endless winter?
Will you trust Me,
Knowing not what lies ahead?
Will you trust Me,
When you do not sense My Presence?
Will you trust Me,
Though you fail to comprehend?

Will you trust Me,
When I tell you, "Be not troubled?
Will you trust Me,
When I say, “Be not afraid?”
Will you trust Me,
Believing all have failed you?
Will you trust Me,
As you drink vinegar and gall?

I will because,
Your Word dwells richly in me.
I will because,
Your promises are true.
I will because,
You have appointed angels,
To ensure no harm,
Shall draw near me.

I believe I dwell
In Your heart loving Jesus.
I believe because my home
Is on Your breast.
I believe that neither
Snake, nor wolf, nor dragon,
Would dare approach me
While I tarry there.
