LOVE STOOPS LOW

It is no exaggeration to say that the Sacred Heart is the Holy Eucharist. The Eucharist is the same Infinite Love who is God and who out of love for us became man and is here on earth. When we receive Him, that same God is within us. Love wants us to be intimate. Love wants us to be near. Love wants us to be close to the one whom it loves. The Holy Eucharist is divine genius! Fr. John A. Hardon SJ

What is this gentle movement,
Deep within my soul?
Softly, quietly I soar,
Lifted high, upward, aloft,
As if on eagle’s wings,
And then my heart descends,
Deep into a fathomless abyss,
Aglow with mystery and light.

All my longings now are satisfied,
When I consume the Son of God,
Made Man in flesh.
My soul is held enthralled,
As time and space dissolve,
And I, in rapturous reverence and awe,
Worship and adore my Lord,
Tabernacled in my soul.

The Almighty Word, the Conqueror,
Leaps down from heaven,
We are no longer two but one,
United in a spousal love,
And I, inebriate a while,
Am sanctified, strengthened, and renewed,
As I abide for just a little while,
With the Bridegroom of my soul.

THE HUNGRY HEART (IN THE TIME OF THE PANDEMIC)

Invited to the Banquet,
Partaking of the Meal,
We ate the Bread of Angels,
Drank of the Cup that heals.
Some came from obligation,
Careless, heedless and remiss,
Eating while insensible,
That this was sublime bliss.

The gloom of fast and famine,
Casts a shadow on our soul
We plead for the atoning
Sacrifice, that makes us whole.
Our hungry hearts are pining,
For our supernatural Bread,
Restore to us dear Father,
The salvific Meal we shared.

How long will we be tested?
Lift this famine, Lord, we pray,
Feed Your famished children,
Lest we perish on the way.
Open up our churches,
Once again to offer praise,
Worship, and thanksgiving,
To the Author of all days.

GOD'S IN HIS HEAVEN

Jesus answered, "Is it not written in your law, "I said, you are gods'? John 10:34.

I said, "You are gods, and all of you are sons of the Most High. Psalm 82:6

NO GREATER LOVE

“God’s in His heaven,
All’s right with the world.”
Because He has given,
His Son to us all.
He loves us so dearly,
He held not the One,
Who alone could atone,
For the wrongs we have done.

If angels felt envy,
They’d wish they could be,
The sons and the daughters,
Of Adam and Eve.
He gave not to angels,
New life once again,
When He lay down His life,
To make gods of mere men.

He feeds us each day,
With the finest of wheat,
All His brothers and sisters,
Are called to the feast.
Seated around,
His Table we eat,
The Flesh of the Lamb,
The Food our souls need.

There’s no greater gift,
To all who believe,
Approaching the Altar,
Our God to receive.
The Manna providing,
Both strength to resist,
The wiles of the Tempter,
And grace to persist.

Sublime Humility

It is enough for me,
That in sublime humility,
Stooping sweet and low,
God descends into my soul,
In the Holy Eucharist.

I need nothing more
Than this.

He calms the raging tempest,
As He sates the yearning,
In my body, heart and soul.
The Food that I receive,
Has power to assuage,
my deepest hunger,
Slake my raging thirst.

I drink from springs,
Of living water,
Flowing from His wounded side,
And then I lie,
In cool green meadows
With my God who satisfies.

This is why
At every Eucharist,
When I have fed
On Bread,
Made of the finest wheat
And drunk the Wine,
Sweeter still than honey
In the comb,
In ecstatic bliss,
I cry,
"It is enough!
I ask no more
Than this."

He is  enough,
He always is,
Jesus Christ,
In the Holy Eucharist.

IT IS ENOUGH

It is enough,
Eternal Love
Now fills my soul,
Ineffable my bliss,
There is no more.
I now possess,
All there is
this side of life,
And all there is
In Heaven,
When I receive
The Bridegroom of my soul,
In the Holy Eucharist.

MY GOD IS HERE

You are here!
Beloved Bridegroom of my soul.
At last You have arrived,
My sovereign Lord and King.
You will have to stoop so low,
To come into the bridal chamber
Of my heart.
Humbly You descend,
My gracious King,
So I can make ascent with You,
...........To heaven.

You in me and I in You,

Encompassing  infinity,
For just awhile.
Your loving Presence satisfies
The all consuming  ardor of my soul,
Which will commence again,
As soon as You will go,
T'will last until You come to me
Once more,
In the Holy Eucharist,
...........Tomorrow.
