GOD’S LOVE

Like the velvet warmth of sunshine,
Like the cool of April showers,
Like the soft pearl rose of dawning,
Like a field of laughing flowers.

Like the fiery gold of sunset,
Like a jasmine fragrant May,
Like a choir’s song at matins,
Like the evening breeze at play.

Like the happy laugh of children,
Like the smile of sleeping babes,
Like the moon-gleam on the river,
Like the wine from sun-kissed grapes.

Like the gossamer of rainbows,
Like a caress upon the cheek,
All these are but a glimmer of,
God our Father’s love for me.

WITH YOU ALWAYS

When the road,
Ahead is narrow,
And the journey
Darkly bleak
Know that I,
The Lord am with you,
Where the Shepherd ,
There His sheep.

Life can oft be,
Seamed in sorrow,
Faith can falter,
Hope can dim.
Lift your gaze,
And you will find me,
Right beside you,
In your need.

Come to Me,
When you are weary,
Lean your head,
Upon My breast.
Bear with joy,
The cross you carry,
In Me let your soul,
Find its rest.

IN THE SHADOW OF LOVE

Walk in my shadow,
Find ‘neath its shade,
Peace and protection,
Till sun and moon fail.

I’ll be your shelter,
In the eye of the storm,
Under my wings,
You are safe from all harm.

Fear shall not stalk you,
Nor pestilence strike,
No arrow in daylight,
Nor terror by night.

I promise to gather,
Each tear from your eye,
In grief and in sorrow,
I’ll stay by your side.

Angels will guard you,
They’re charged to dispense,
Showers of blessing,
And favors immense.

And after the course,
Of your life here has run,
I’ll give you a mansion,
In the realm of My Son.

THE SPECTACULAR

Give me spectacular,
Grant me a miracle,
I pleaded as I prayed.
Speak as You did at creation,
Command,  “Let it be,”
And in an instant it will be,
According to Your Word.

Why flawed this cry,
Though wrung
From anguished heart?
Flawed because,
It directed God to act,
According to my will,
Not His.

Wisdom whispered tenderly,
“Pray like this,
“Not mine, but let Your will be done.”
And then the miracle,
Quietly unfurled,
And at its heart was found,
A matchless love.

I did receive a miracle.

MY PRAYER

My prayer is to love You,
More dearly each day,
In all that life brings me,
See Your loving ways.

To know that Your hands,
Are always outstretched,
To guide and protect me,
To know I am blessed.

This is my prayer,

That love endlessly grows,
To love without measure,
O Lord I implore.

To love to the ends,
Where the sea meets the sky
And deeper than deep,
And higher than high.

In Your perfect love,
To always abide,
Sure in the knowledge,
You are at my side.

To love You without,
Ever counting the cost,
Even though I

Have to carry a cross.

WHY LORD?

Lord Jesus, I know why I love You.

You make my heart sing,
You make me feel beautiful,
You make me a child of Your Father,
You make me feel good about myself.

I look at You and I see
That my experience of all
That is beautiful and good
Is reflected in You.

Without You my life is empty,
Hopeless, meaningless.
You satisfy every need,
You meet every longing,
You are the fulfillment
Of all my desires.

I ponder on Your Word,
I gaze at Your holy image,
I experience the wonder
Of holding You in my heart
When I receive You in the Eucharist
And I know why I love You.

But why do You love me Lord?
Why did You die for me?
Why did You take my place
On the cross?
Why did You leave the glory of
Heaven to prove Your love for Me?

Dear Heart,
Long before time began
My Father knew you.
He intended you to be born.
He knew exactly how He wanted you to look.
Your eyes, your colour, your disposition.
He gave you a great capacity to love,
He also gave you a free will.
In doing so He hoped
You would choose to love Me.

He wanted you in eternity.
But you were a sinner,
Heaven’s door was shut to you.
Only the shedding of blood - My blood,
Could open that door.
When I saw His love for you
How could I refuse?

Now, when I look at you,
I see your love for Me blossom
Grow stronger, bloom brighter,
More fragrant with each passing day ,
You make Me glad
Because I did not die in vain.

AFTER THE TEARS

AFTER THE TEARS

The years before I knew You,
Were dark and full of sin,
Swayed by every passion,
My soul was dark within.

How barren life was then Lord,
Each passing thrill gave way,
To even greater emptiness,
That filled me with dismay.

Yearning for a tender love,
Searching endlessly,
For someone warm and caring,
To love me selflessly.

The times You called my name Lord,
I did not recognize,
Your quiet, gentle, loving voice,
For I preferred the noise.

When death stole my baby,
I sought You in my grief,
Demanding why You had to take
My baby girl from me.

My God, You stooped from heaven,
You touched my soul Your grace,
And though my eyes were filled with tears,
A smile lit up my face.
